Coyote hides?
 

I'm new to hunting coyote in central Ohio. I will be going for my first hunt in the next weekend or two. Even though I'm going to be helping some of the farmers I don't want to leave them lay. I was hoping to find a local Taxidermist that could use the hide's. I would like to get some use from them. I really want to find someone that can use them and maybe trade some of the hides for one turned into leather or if I get a nice one in the winter with a good coat and have the hair left on it. I make all kinds of things out of leather so it would be put to good use.

Can anyone help or know a taxidermist in central Ohio that would be interested in this?

Rebel, Im not familiar with Ohios coyote seasons, but the hides are worthless right now. They are whats called unprime, or flat. Actually, I saw a coyote the other day that looked all shed out already, and had a nice appearance. But still, worthless as a speciman or hide. Most taxidermists like to see them from at LEAST mid November, I prefer mid December when the cheek ruffs and hackles are fuller. Check your local laws before you start cutting down that coyote population, or better yet, let them mouse all summer and shoot them this winter when they A) come to a call much easier, and B) have a value to the fur. I'm interested in buyingfur, whether or not they are selling quality. I've been making crafts with those kinds of things, and i don't think it would matter much if they are ruffed or flat. I live in California, but i could pay to have them shipped out. Email me if you're at all interested. I agree with Bill,Summer hides have no taxidermy value.
I also would be purchasing in the winter time, so let me know.

Don't mean to hijack the post, but do you guys prime western coyotes skinned for taxidermy use(feet on)? The taxis around here get all they want so I end up giving them away at NAFA. I'd sell all you want, or I get!!!:D.

Yes feet and lips and ears turned is the way for taxidermy, you can advertise them free at www.taxidermy.net/forums put them on the for sale forum
