Is 3D target archery losing its foothold

Over the last ten and twenty years has 3D archery lose its foothold. How's your area.
It seems to be down, probably moreso in bigger city areas. Notice the 3D events kept moving further out of town in the last ten and twenty years.
Is it getting too hard to find land for 3D in your area? Are the replacement of large 3D figures getting too expensive to replace? Is it too hard to keep the targets protected, if kept on the 3D range ?

Glad I shot 3D events years ago for the accuracy. The last 3D shoot in the county closed over ten years ago. Glad when I purchased my last bow, I first acquired a nearby private place to shoot. That proved more valuable than the bow and accessories. Glad I made homemade targets, and made them light enough to carry them into and out of my range. I was ahead of the no shoot archery in my area.

Still pretty popular in my area. We have three within a 45 min drive that operate monthly.

3D is a lot more popular around here now than it used to be. Spots have fallen off like crazy.

Our sportsman club has a 3D range. I bet it has not had any one use it in 6 months. Vote coming up in July about adding another sporting course for tournaments.

Cripe you can shot a 50 shot round of sporting clays for the same cost.
Have to pay guys to set the targets out, mulch the paths (one early complaint was the muddy paths after a rain) cut and prune the grass and tree limbs back from the path.

few guys can get together take their Wally World targets to the state land and set up and shoot all day long if they wish.

:D Al

It is becoming insanely popular in NASP (National Archery in Schools Program). Some schools are giving up their centershot targets and concentrating on 3d. While still not as popular with the schools as centershot because of target price and more difficult range set up (has to be set up according to their regs.) The kids love it and tend to prefer it over centershot.

I think that 3D range is the best choice nowadays. It's the most interactive thing for me.

We have a few 3D leagues around here, one seems to do significantly better than others. The have a Facebook page, and post their shoots on every local outdoorsman page on Facebook. They have definitely attracted a bunch of new shooters too
