Default For me it's cool to just shoot at regular targets . . .

so I don't spend any time destroying expensive arrows.

I have had a lot of fun and good practice by taking milk jugs and filling them full of spray foam insulation and standing in the yard under a ladder and throwing them in all directions. Then I climb the ladder and shoot the jugs. Good practice for tree stand shooting and guessing yardage.

How about you get big boxes, have the kids do animal paintings on them and use the huge cut outs as targets.

I like LWSep10's idea. You could also fill up used soda bottles with colored water if you want a big explosion without the mess.
