Robin Hood Etiquette
 

When shooting 3d shoots, I’ve shot several robin hoods, but luckily, it’s always been on my own arrows. But I got to thinking the other night as a guy and I kept trading off busting each others knocks about ever other target, what happens if we robin hood a couple of these puppies?

Honestly, I don’t care as much if someone does it to me... I’m more concerned that I’m doing the right thing as a respectful and courteous fellow archer. Do you offer to give him some money? And if so, what do you offer? 10 bucks, something more nominal like 5 bucks? Or is it generally considered "a risk you take when you play the game" - which is kinda the way I see it??

Just curious what others thoughts or past experiences are?

I have not seen this a problem unless the targets are very close. Busting a nock or fletching is no big deal, but if you are busting up arrows often, then this would get old. I don't think that I would offer any $; this is just part of the game. I think that it also hasa lot to do with the skill level of your partner.

The shooter keeps the arrows and the person that had his arrow destroyed should just say good shot as he hands you the arrows.

I was at a 3d shoot once and robin hooded my friends arrow. I simply told him sorry about the luck and I pulled the arrows apart and gave him his back. It was junk of course but mine was still good. He didn'tcare at alland we joked about it for the rest of the shoot.

Bingo! But you might want to only say "good shot" if it was a 10... :)

I had one of mine hit at state last year. That was his 1st ever to Robin Hood. I dated it and gave it to him. It was really a big deal for him and I just think that is part of shooting. If you are afraid of your arrow getting hit, stick to 5 spot.
