Indoor, Introduced HNI member, he's addicted.
Today for the indoor we've been shooting we have a new member of HNI hooked. M/Hensler PA shot his very first 3D ever. Yeah, he's hooked.
I sucked terribly today. I couldn't figure it out, for the first time, I was dropping low. I never drop low, it's usually high left..LOL Nate, unbelievable. He shot one 5, one 8, 30 tens for a 313. He also shot 15 twelves for a 343. Ben finished 2nd, yeah he beat me as I shot my worst score yet which I'm having trouble with after grouping so well yesterday. It wasn't the bow, it was the shooter. I finished 3rd, then Matt and Brian (BPBowhunter). I was a little frusterated at first but then said screw it, have fun and I did. I'm glad I did. Here's Brian bearing down. ![]() And then here's Ben bearing down with Matt, Brian and Nate hiding behind: ![]() A couple targets: ![]() 26 yard turkey: ![]() This was the hardest the course was thus far. Most of the small targets were beyond 20 yards back in the nooks and crannies. Target one and target two were the spinning turkey and spinning raccoon. Yeah, welcome to 3D Matt we said...LOL His first two real targets on his first 3D course and they spun...LOL ![]() |
RE: Indoor, Introduced HNI member, he's addicted.
WOW Im sorry I missed it! Gosh the way Im shooting I would of need 2 dozen arrows to get threw all those small targets!:DGood shooting guys...Glad to see another is hooked! If not for such a drive I would be there every week!:D One more thing I waited for this post all day to see how it went!

Yeah, notice target 3, it's the little brown bear behind the skunk that's 31....and it was angled.

RE: Indoor, Introduced HNI member, he's addicted.
Well Damn.....you said he shot 343 but you didn't say he won!
(I should've read into that, though;)) |
RE: Indoor, Introduced HNI member, he's addicted.
Had a blast today guys. Certainly glad I decided to go. GREAT group of guys. (Again Ben thanks for the re-fletching). I'm going to be back for sure.
Things I learned: Just when you think you can shoot pretty decent, surround yourself with these guys, and you certainly think differently:D Spinng targets suck With one look, Nate and Rob corrected my anchor issue that I struggled with for almost a week, lol. Rob should become a salesman Ben may or may not be suffering right now due to the spicey baconater Four guys in a truck...five pairs of binoculars...nobody can figure out how to get a closer view of a flock of turkeys in a field:D Peanut butter eggs are better when they're won:D Thanks for the good times guys. |
RE: Indoor, Introduced HNI member, he's addicted.
Awesome time shooting today fellas. Matt, welcome!!! Hope you can join us again. Tough course to start on but you hung in there tough. As you heard in the truck on the way home...My first time was like a 234 or something...I forget your actual score but I know it was well North of that and on a much harder course. The last two weeks have been fun as we have been playing roulet with the arrows androtating who shoots first in the groups of four or five. Lots ofews and ahs on the 4th and fifth arrows as we hear the vanes smack alot of the time as the picks show. Even if it costs a vane hereor anarrow there,if that is the case then it is just good shooting and fun. PS Matt, your two and my one arrow now has new blazers on them already:D. Good as new. Thanks for a fun day guys.

Another awesome day was had by all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Matt, welcome to the club it's an addiction. Like Rob stated Nate was on fire, as I was the official scorer of the day he made my job really easy. [8D] Take care, Brian |
RE: Indoor, Introduced HNI member, he's addicted.
Ben may or may not be suffering right now due to the spicey baconater Peanut butter eggs are better when they're won:D Anyone reading this, refer to the last pic in Rob's post. If you look just to the right of the far turkey(target29), there is a skunk angled to the left(target14). We joked about shooting it in the broadside zone during the comp as you would have to clear a 2X6 by almost nothing. Well after we were done, Nate put up the last homemade peanut butter egg that the shop sells and pretty much the real number one reason I come back to get my butt kicked week in and week out:Dup for the closest shot to the 12. Needless to say...Matt made an awesome shot after I thought I had it locked up. |
RE: Indoor, Introduced HNI member, he's addicted.
Yeah, 4 guys in the truck with 5 pairs of binoculars and we're trying to watch these turkey until the only smart person in the truck, was it Ben or Matt said hey, we have binos...LOL[8D]

RE: Indoor, Introduced HNI member, he's addicted.
I hate those dam little bears Rob. LOL I just found out one of the clubs in this area got on for outdoor 3D this year.
I wish I could have been there, that is a fun shoot. Those spinning targets are killers. and having all those small ones out past 25yds. Ouch. I wish I was closer so I could go every week with you guys. But with gas the way it is, it gets costly quick |
RE: Indoor, Introduced HNI member, he's addicted.
Aint that the truth Chad. Gas is outrageous right now and to tell the truth, don't right hoggish!
Let us know when you can make it. Next week it might be a Saturday as Nate can't go Sunday, don't know yet. We have a great outdoor shoot come the first Sunday of April, what's that three weeks from today? |
RE: Indoor, Introduced HNI member, he's addicted.
Holy small targets! [:-]:D
Looks like a club trying to save a couple bucks in limited space. LOL That does look pretty challenging, Just one tiny target after another........and that damn little "Gummi Bear". Man I hate that target. [:'(] Those targets are exactly the reason why I start to run into problems finding quality practice before the bigger spring/summer shoots. Lots lof local clubs have gone to Rinehart targets in general and the small ones to save money and those targets seem to last longer (especially the ones with removable inserts) The problem is that the big IBO events all use McKenzie targets and once you get outdorrs it really messes you up to try to go from one manufacturer to the other. I don't like to shoot local events that have Rineharts when I'm getting close to the big shoots. I want that repetition of seeing the same make targets everytime to work on relative target size. I would honestly rather shoot marked yardage spots on a practice range working on form than shoot a full 3D with Rinehart targets when I'm gearing up for the IBO Legs. |

Matt,to be honest, where you are at with your shooting, you really need to look into purchasing a range of your own.Should be able to get one from one of the big shoots at some point for a considerable savings and most of the top shooters out there have their own ranges setup. |
RE: Indoor, Introduced HNI member, he's addicted.
That looks like fun, looks like everyone had a great time and spotted some turks to boot - won't be long now

RE: Indoor, Introduced HNI member, he's addicted.
Matt, they have both McKenzie and Reinhart targets. The reason all those little ones are jammed back in the 30 yard range is their winter league is winding down. As the league continues, they make the course harder and harder. We've been shooting along with the winter league for fun. We anticipate the course from week to week.
I was following the league, as it stands, I'd be in 3rd place until this past Sunday. |
