IBO Mid-Atlantic Challenge
A few friends and I shot the IBO Mid-Atlantic Challenge that was held @ Big Buck Archery Club.....about an hour from where I live, today.
Two fifteen target courses....and two totally different courses. The first was up and downhill the whole way.....and the back side course was more open shots .....but longer. Everyone in my group shot hunter class. Center scoring rings counted as 11's. Frank (Brknarrow) and I got to shoot together again.....and had fun, as always. Here's a few of the shots we faced, today. Right off the bat....(maybe the 4th target)....we had a full strut turkey facing us from about 33 yds. ![]() Next was a shot unlike any I've ever shot. Photos can't do the elevation change justice.....but if you'll note the angle of the bows......and then the guys retrieving the arrows....it'll give you a pretty good idea. ![]() ![]() ![]() Guys retrieving arrows.....WAYyyyyy down and out there...:D (Note the ladder) ![]() ![]() ![]() All of with 11's......(OK..it only happened once:D) ![]() One of the most fun days I've had shooting a bow. Great group.....great course.....great fun. Don't have a clue how we finished.....and won't for a couple days. I ended up 11 down on 30 targets.....counting center of 10's as 11's (IBO). I had nine 11's for the day....and never missed a 10 ring by more than an inch all day. Could have been a great round.....but I ended up happy with my first IBO shoot showing. |

Jeff~Funny about the Turkey, the second target at Foggy Mountain was a full strut blonde(white) turkey at 32 steps, I some how came away with an X. That looks like a fun course.

RE: IBO Mid-Atlantic Challenge
Cool!
You're starting to get a feel for a little more challenging IBo Hunter style course. The elevation changes make things intersting. We shot a target at IBO Worlds in 2005 that actually had ropes tied to the trees to help you down to the target. It was so steep that at the stake we couldn't find the target for a few seconds, and it actually made you a little nervous to go to the edge and look down at it. I swear it was 40 yards away on a straight line but shot it for 28 yards for an X' Remember.........always shoot them for the horizontal distance. Man you indoor guys need to grow a set already. LOL We just finished up week 13 ofour outdoor winter league.:D I'll tell you after the shoots in January and February today's weather felt downright balmy. Frank was complaining that he was overheated. |

The very next target after "The Rock" shot had ropes on the trees to help you down and up. I know what you mean.:D Fun stuff. |
RE: IBO Mid-Atlantic Challenge
That was the tuffest shoot I have been on - and I have 3 to my credit
I started off crappy and dropped two 5's in the first four targets - I finished 24 down for the day with 4 - 5's But that was fun as heck and can't wait to do it again - hopefully the commander will be ready to roll, the 101st got to be a bear after shooting all day |
