shot completion?
This may sound completely crazy, but it seems like sometimes my shot just falls apart when I'm shooting 3-D. All in all I'm a pretty decent shot 6 times out of 10, but those other four all do the same thing; they end up low and right. I'm not talking about 2 inches off; were talking outside the 8 ring, but I'll turn around on the next target and 12 ring it? It's wierd, always the same place. Target panic? trigger jerk? torque? Does anyone have any experience with this? Maybe some things that might help me out!
Thanks in advance. Brandon |

RE: shot completion?
Probably mental. You are not focused and you drop your arm and basically fall out of the shot. The bad shot gets your attention and you refocus.
This is why a shot sequence is so important.Develop a routine and do it religously EVERYTIME. Another great reason to use a back tension release. Are you left handed? Most righties when they fall out of a shot hit low left. Or it could be target panick. |
RE: shot completion?
Let me ask this, also......
"Could" it mean anything that he's shootin' 70#'s for 3D? Brandon's a stout guy.....but I know I sure as heck didn't like 70#'s for 3D when I was shooting it. Just grasping. |
RE: shot completion?
What is a example of a typical routine?
Should I have the pull set heavy or light on my realease? (Scott index finger pull) I do believe it's partially mental/target panic. I have been shooting alot at night using flood lights and my groups are very tight, tighter than normal , but I can't see the end result until I walk up to the target. That's my reasoning for thinking it's partially mental, out of sight out of mind!? Aaron, if you've got a nice drop away your willing to donate, I'll take care of that WB[8D]. But then Steph. will be out shooting me with a WB and that def. as Jeff says will cause me to lose my man card. |
RE: shot completion?
I noticed the same thing on Sunday and if I had to guess it would be mental or dropping your arm looking for the result and not following through on the shot

RE: shot completion?
Frank-
Did you notice me dropping my arm on Sunday any? I'm looking for some feedback, my Dad watches me shoot but he thinks I'm crazy. He's a natural at archery and doesn't worry about form, hand position, follow through etc, he just shoots and shoots well. |
RE: shot completion?
I didn't notice specifically - only that you were spot on or when you weren't there was low left- do you notice it as much during pratice or it only when shooting 3-d, meaning if you are off in practice is it low left - if not I would say it is you are trying to see where the arrow hits before getting there for sure- I will pay attention - next time we shoot, but hopefully you get it worked out and smoke some tail

RE: shot completion?
It'sjust beenat the last two shoots, but I've never really shot alot. I think you're are spot on that I'm trying to see the end result to quick, instead of watching the arrow through my peep/sight windowall the way to the target. Something for me to keep in mind and work on. Thanks Ralph:D

RE: shot completion?
Was it the same arrow?
Number the arrows and make sure you don't have a flier. |
