training questions
 

I am new to the boards but I've noticed since I have been here there is a new HOW DO I TRAIN MY DOG QUESTION, every 2nd day. I like flushing dogs but have trained pointing dogs. I see the answers as the same, What book or tape are you using? What are the tapes of choice? I use "Duck Dog" and "hup" along with George Hicox "Training Upland Flushing Dogs". I like the phliosophy of both. I used Adam's tape along with "Wing and Shot" to training pointing dogs when playing that game. What do the rest use and why?

For training a Labrador that points, there is only one book, and it's "The Pointing Labrador" by Paul and Julie Knutson.
For a good ol' "meat dog" (hunting dog), the "10 Minute Retriever" by John and Amy Dahl is good. For the ultimate retriever and Field Test/Hunt Test dog, the "Smartwork for Retrievers" series by Evan Graham is top shelf.
