On Star dog chip

I dont want to take my dog hunting because I am afraid that I will let her loose on something and she will take and I will never see her again.:( But On Star makes a chip that you put in your dogs ear. Then if you loose your dog you call On Star, give them a code or something and they can locate your dog! I think this is really cool.

You can get you dog micrchipped by the vet too.
All of our dogs are chipped. But thats only good in someone brings the lost dog into the vet or pound . On star sound pretty neat though, to be able to place your dog at any time sounds like a great precautionary tool.
Especialy for small game and bloodhounds.

Never heard of that one but sure would be a good idea. I have some $ in my dogs and although trained well you never know what may happen.
Where did you hear of this and send more info.

RE: On Star dog chip

I did a search and when I came up with nothing I e-mailed Onstar and the reply was:
We do not make a "chip" for dogs.

GPS does make a collar though, but if your dog was stolem they could just take it off. Im going to keep looking, you would somebody has something like that out there somewhere.

If there isn't such a thing yet on the market, it would be an excellent idea for a patent.
They do make tracking collars which work well.
