German Shorthair wins the dog show
Posing like the very symbol of the Westminster Kennel Club, a German shorthaired pointer called Carlee became America's top dog Tuesday night.
The 5-year-old female with soft eyes and a gliding gait won best in show. All seven finalists gave fine performances at Madison Square Garden. But the sellout crowd and judge Lynette Saltzman were clearly won over by Carlee's "free stack," the time when the dog stands alone. Paying rapt attention to handler Michelle Ostermiller, Carlee pointed with perfection as the cheers grew. "She was spectacular," Ostermiller said. Last year, Ostermiller guided a big Newfoundland named Josh to this best in show title. She came back to win again among the 2,581 entries representing 165 breeds and varieties. ![]() |

That's a gorgeous GSP! I saw the end of the show as well and was really hoping to see her win....been waiting for a GSP to win Best of Show for awhile!!

RE: German Shorthair wins the dog show
I don't care who wins the show as long as it a hunting breed.

RE: German Shorthair wins the dog show
I'll second that. I was hoping for the Viszla, but the Viszla was lacking something last night. But the GSH was my second favorite.

RE: German Shorthair wins the dog show
It's about time a REAL dog won that stupid beauty contest for dogs. Only problem is if it gets enough attention, some nerdowells may make the GSP the next "yuppie puppie".

RE: German Shorthair wins the dog show
I have had and have GSP for years and good to see the win But hope they don't turn it into a yuppy dog and ruin the hunting breed like they have done with others.

RE: German Shorthair wins the dog show
That breed is to active and somewhat head strong I don't believe they could ruin that breed, even though they ruined the standerd poodle who used to a good duck hunting dog and it's also hard to find hunting cocker spaniels and Goldens.
