Old Dog New Tricks
 

Just picked up a Brittany Spaniel from Amreican Brittany Rescue,the dog is a 3 year old male who has never hunted,the mother and father both were raised for hunting . Is it possible to train this dog for hunting and if so what recomendadtions would you have as far as a self taught training program would go. The dog is very well behaved and a bundle of energy,any advice would be appreciated.

Oops -- I thought you said Springer -- I know 100% totally nothing about Brits -- other than that they are very fun to hunt behind.

I hunted with a 4 -5 year old weimariner that was on it's first hunt today .It also was a rescue dog , it did ok , eger to please and learning fast.
I would go slow and with a gental hand ( was it abused) ,with lots of love .Go to the liberary and see if they have or can get books on dog training.
