RE: t Training Dogs for Coons...
The dogs breeding is of great importance. If he has it in him, just take him and let him pick it up with woods time. If the dog does not have the breeding, it won't have as good a chance, even if given the chance. Take a well bred dog to the woods every chance you get for short periods and keep it exciting. Allow the dog to go at it's own pace and learn to range out and check back. Good luck.

get a caged coon and then get a ball cage for the coon. if the dog will bark at a caged coon then he will love to track a coon in a ball. never let a coon out on a puppy though you can ruin one, and never run a pup alone until her or she has a little age on her.

the best thing ive found so far is to get a live coon in a roll cage and let the dog chase it for a week or so then take the coon out and let it tree then shoot it out for the dogs

when i use to coon hunt, i would only take one of my young dogs at a time, huntin with my older dogs, that helped,if you have two or three all they want to do is play,an turning out a live coon works also, just don't shot the coon at the first tree, try to jump him out, so the young dogs can run him again
