Put a deposit down on my new hunting buddy-a French Brittany female. She's two weeks old so I get her in mid-September. Would like recommendations on books for taining this breed of dog. I understand they do not respond well to harsh methods. Will be using her primarily on quail her in Texas. Also, any thoughts on gun-breaking and snake-breaking a young pup? Thanks guys.

One of my favorates is actually a video. The titles are the Perfect Start and the Perfect Finish. They are almost painfully detailed but for a first time trainer like myself they were great. Congratulations on your new pup. Brit's are the only pups I'll own and I've got 2 at home now. Every one I've owned or have hunted over are totally unique. You are 100% correct about NOT being heavy handed. I've yet to see a Brit that required anything more than a sturn voice. They do require LOTS of lovin and personal attention. Everyday when I return home from work, I need to sit on the floor with each one for at least 5-10 min and follow up with a cookie. You're in for the time of your life, enjoy!
