Losst My Best Buddy

Last night while at work,I got a call from my wife.My little truck dog ( his name was Trucker) of 13 years had dug through the fence and got hit by a car and killed.the neighbors female was coming in and he smelled her.he just had to go.
he was with me every min. I was off from work.he rode on the tool box of my truck every where I went.if he didn't get to go he would poute for hr's.he would turn his head and not even look at me,really mad.
My great nephew gave him to me 13 years ago while I was in the hospital.
he will be sorely miss.he was the only company my wife had while I was at work.she has cried all night till she made herslef sick.I don't know what to do for her,it is hard enough for me and I know it is 10 times as hard for her.she would set in the sun in the mornings and warm her legs,to help the arthristist.he would set in his chair (she had gotten him a childs chair for him)and lay his head in her lap to be rubbed.he would lay and let her rub him for hrs.
I am gonna have to try and find her another real soon.that is the best,I think to start again.

sorry to ramble just had to let it out some way.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I've gone through this same type of loss 13 times in my 46 years and it is never easy for me. One place I sometimes go is to a web site for greiving pet owners. try it it might help to ease your pain. Go to: petloss.com/poems.htm. CHERISH THE MEMORIES.

i haven't been on any other forum than the turkey..... i decided it was time to come over here and see what was up.....i am so sorry for your loss.......that is exactly what happened to my Branddee.....ya'll's words helped the hurt so much...i still cry , but not everyday, it is gettin' easier, i'm actually lookin' for a new bloodhound....i believe she is near me at all times, i even have a lil red bloodhound that clings to my gear shifter to remind me she is near...i put her collar in my backpack and we went hunting, she loved to scout with me, especially during turkey season, i dedicated this year to her, and probably the rest too , lol....might be silly , but it helps...my heart aches for you and your wife.....time will heal.....and since no one has posted these, i will :)

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge...

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them. Someone they had to be leave behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted! When you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge to Heaven, together....

and.................

(In memory of beloved pets who are gone, but not forgotten.)

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying. You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today. Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "It's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "Good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out... then come home to be with me.
