Default book for training??

my father-in-laws dog will be having pups (GSP) in a few weeks and i am gonna get one of them. I had a britt when i was a kid, and she turned out to be a great bird dog, but it sure wasnt due to anything i did with her, i guess i just got a good one. so, i was wondering if anybody could suggest a good book describing step by step training method they have had success with. i figured i would start with basic obedience first (come, sit, stay, heel, etc.), and then move into the hunting training. if anyone has a book that worked for them or helped you, please pass on the title! thanks in advance.

You may want to repost with GPS in the title, this may help get a response. I only know about retriever training. For basic training through the first six months , Jackie Mertens- "Sound Beginnings" video is good but, is geared for retrievers.
