How to teach a dog to find antler sheds

Does anybody have a good reference for teaching a dog to find sheds? If you do this can you use the dog for other hunting of is it specific for sheds? Do you have to worry about the dog chasing deer?

Thanks in advance

I've read an article about that. I'll try to find it and post the mag's name and issue. I do know that he made a toy out of an antler shed and always associated it with good things. Antler means treat. Antler means walk in the woods. Antler means playtime, etc. He'd tell his dog to "Find a bone" and he'd get tons of antler sheds, way more than he would have alone. He said his dogs would bring back all kinds of sheds for him. They loved it. I'll try to get the info.

Go to www.bowsite.com [Oregon} and ask Darrin. this guy is real nice. He has a choc. lab that hunts up elk and mule deer sheds. pretty much I would say substitute bird for a FRESH shed and tell to hunt.
