Default can these dogs really be hunted???

my springer died and i promised my wife the next dog we get will be hers. i went and bought her a cane corso mastiff. we wanted a large dog that would be good with kids and be not only a gaurd dog but wanted to have a good temperment. after a ton of research, this dog is what i came up with for her. he is now 4 1/2 months old and weighs close to 80 lbs. even though i didn't buy him to be a hunting dog, i am really missing that aspect of my life. throught the research, i did see on many websites that they make excellent hunting dogs, infact they were bread to hunt large game such as lions, bears and stag. does anybody know anything about the hunting ability of these dogs??? it would seem kind of funny to me seeing a 180 lb dog running though brush after rabbits!!!
