3 legged bird dog?

I have two great dogs, both muts, and was thinking of training them for hunts. Both are very smart and learn quickly. The older one lost his leg recently. Anyone think he's still capable of being a good bird dog?

Thanks,
Matt

Absolutely, they taught us in vet school that dogs are three legged animals with a spare. I had a buddy in high school that had a three legged walker hound and I can't count high enough to tally all the coons he put in a tree. We hunted him hard all year for years and he didn't know he had three legs.

when i was in vet school i saw a newspaper clipping about a 3 legged farm dog in iowa that lost another leg!! they had a photo of him running alongside the tractor on 2 legs. the article said that he continued to do all the things he had done before, with the exception of making sharp turns!

I had a lab once that had to have a leg removed due to bone cancer. He hunted just as good with 3 legs as he had with 4.
