Boy that names seems to fit this little girl. Born February 10th Ash Wednesday during a snow storm where 11 inches fell a lot for the area where she was born. The day we went to look at her it was cold and damp after several days in the high 60F range. Yesterday we went to pick her up to come home, rained all the way there and all the way home. A good inch of water in the lawn here so she gets a good soaking when we go out. So some of the first pictures of her here at home are going to be of her wrapped in a towel getting dried off.
So tiny a little girl too. Only my Visla was as tiny but she was a runt of the litter and we were told Stormy was also the runt.

Great looking pup, now the fun starts with watching her learn with training and watching her point her first bird.

Learning not to be with litter mates is trying. ears are so big they get in the water dish and they get wet and slop water all over the place. Of course her head will grow.
Seems she always has that nose on the ground smelling when we are in the yard.

It's a nice looking pup. She should be well on her way when the grouse numbers are back up. But as you know we've had pretty decent wood cock these last few years. Perfect for bringing a young pup along.

I don't care for the taste of wood cock so don't hunt them. Grouse?
We hunt Partridge here and numbers seem to be up the last couple years.

UP? where exactly is this spot? :happy0157: Woodcock are good for introducing pups to wild birds because they have a distinctive odor and tend to hold under a dog very well. So, as you bring your pup along with bench, and yard work you can take advantage of the spring flights as they move through your area before the quiet period. They're free training birds no need to shoot them. Come fall more of the same, not shooting until the dogs behavior is what you want. I actually like woodcock for both hunting and eating. But mostly for hunting.;)
