Do You Have "Dog Goals" for 2015 ?
Do you have any particular goals for your dogs in 2015 ?
For us, my wife's dog Tucker (now age 6 yrs) will continue to run in HRC, probably some AKC tests and possibly some NAHRA. For my Weezle, (now 5 months old) will be to pass a couple HRC Started tests and then to move on to Seasoned before the end of HT season. Might run some AKC Junior and maybe Senior before the end of the HT season and if something comes along, run in NAHRA too. Of course, both dogs will get to hunt a lot. . |
|
Yea. Getting it home from the breeder. Lol. We purchased an English Cocker and can't wait to get started with the training.
|
My Jämthund will be three years in the autumn. The goal is to shoot a moose for her during the upcoming hunting season.
|
Have my 15 month old wire wair Dachshund "Boudin" (boo'-dan) , better known as "Boo Boo", blood trailing by September.
|
My goal this year is to get all 5 of my female walkers trained to "come" to the truck using the Garmin Alpha 100 and the TT-10 collars. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Get my 4 month old GWP x Walker blood tracking by October.

2eagles, sorry it took so long to get back to you. She she ranges out to 45 or 50 yards which is as far as I want her, I hunt on foot and do not field trial. She covers a lot of ground quartering and for a just 8 month pup I am very happy with her progress. I have hunted and killed birds over her twice since I made that post about getting her on the gun, it would have been more times but our weather has stunk lately.

I have a Llewellin pup I got a few weeks ago. He's going on 11 weeks old and he's an orange Belton like yours Oldtimr.
Can't wait to do some training with him this spring. |
Good luck with him. I hunted with mine on Saturday and she is really coming along. She slams into a point running full speed. I could have gotten some great pics of intense points if I had remembered the camera in my coat pocket. Post a picture of your pup.
|
I'll post a couple of pics when I'm on my PC.
He's a real doll. Turning into a teenager pretty quick though. My Britt got lame her last few years and then we lost her in Sept so I haven't been able to chase upland birds for a while. I'm very excited about this autumn. Real training starts in April at 4 months old. |
Here's my little guy. His name is Whip.

What a beauty. Puppy breath and training days, doesn't get better than that. What kennel is he from?
|
He's from Kyle Warren's Paint River Llewellins. Kyle got Whip's parents from Laurel Mountain Llewellins in the UP.

Cool, I hear that Scott and Michelle are good folks and do a fine job.
Brandy's beautiful and yeah, she looks like just about the exact same age. Whip will be twelve weeks this weekend. Man I can't wait for the very first flush....and hopefully a kill and hopefully a retrieve! |
Don't be disappointed if he doesn't retrieve for a while. Setters are not known as natural retrievers. My last setter took two years before he consistantly retrieved to hand. I do not believe in force fetch training, I can wait for it to develop so long as they find dead birds.

I would like my squirrel dog jack to have treed 4 squirrels on average every day by the end of the 2015-16 squirrel season.
