Dang! Sorry. I lost my first dachshund just like that .... Ralph. Rescued him. Supposed to have had all his shots but ... in a week he was sick .... nursed him through distemper which was a miracle in itself. From that point on he wanted to go where ever I did. Dug out under the chain link one Sunday to follow me to church. Found him in the road ditch. Dang near killed my heart.

I have had good success with a radio fence. Might be something to consider next time around. Can get one on line for $300 or so and it's nothing but grunt work to install.
