Best breed under 25lbs?
Are there any good all around hunting dogs that stay around 25lbs?
I live in an apartment, that has a weight restriction. I'd be hunting mostly small game due to limited freezer space. |
I've been pretty impressed by field bred English Cockers.
. |
They sound great I always over looked them due to the ones I've seen looking like minature poodles as far as size goes, so assumed the purpose got bred out of them.

There's the Patterdale Terrier, they make great little hunting dogs in my opinion.
|
I have an E-mail out about a Patterdale.
Two years old, fixed,.kills mice, hates cats would it be possible to still train him to hunt? |
What type of hunting you talking?
|
Squirrel / rabbit / fox...
I wouldn't mind eventually hunting water fowl, and bigger game in a year or two. |
Boykin spaniel
|
beagle is my choice. Some are tough to train but once they are they are great house dogs.

I really like the aggressive nature of a patterdale terrier from everything I've read.
That they will seriously try and kill the hunted animal, I think their drive would help making hunting far easier for me, just starting in the hunting hobby. however they are the only breed I have looked into for their hunting potential. I do need to start researching the other breeds, pros and cons. Maybe stories of personal experience can help me? I won't be doing any hunting til at least 2014 |
