Many choices, best to work with vet. Most feeds grain based,boo.hiss. am feeding adults taste of the wild. Raw meat not often enough(enzymes help with teeth.) Veggies good too.
For pups we,re using purina pro plan for large and purina one for small.
Know breeders who raw feed only,a couple studs who visited come back in great shape.
I agree with watching protien levels, again with vet.to much is not good, nor to little.
If first ingredient is corn don,t bother looking further. By rotating brand on occasion any trace minerals might get covered, that said its hard to find good brands. Watch for runny eyes ,itchies, ear problems as many can be traced to diet, changing brand has helped with some of my dogs.
Overweight can get green beans for filler in reduced portions of chow.
I,m not promoting vets here but show them your food list of ingredients and contents and let them know what diets your using.
Congrats on your pup, heres wishing you many years of fond memories!

Look into Merrick, it's a good brand of dog food. Grain free is the best way to go.
