SIT means Sit -- Even in Mid-Air
 

At the Montana HRC Upland Hunt Test, I had a great example of a solid SIT.
I was running Tucker. On our 2nd bird, the pheasant was running. It ran from it's "plant" out to the left 50+ yards. Tucker saw the bird and went on "sight point" -- Tucker was 50 yards from the bird. I released Tucker from point and he started running at full speed toward the bird. When he was 5' from the bird, it flushed and Tucker made a flying leap trying to catch the air born bird. He barely missed grabbing it in mid-air.
At this point, I was thinking that Tucker would continue the chase and we would Fail................. I blew the SIT whistle while Tucker was still in the air and he came down into an immediate Sit . The bird was considered a "fly away", but he had exhibited a solid Sit to Flush & Shot.
We quartered back to the line and did our Honor Walk-up and picked up our ribbon
