dog vests

Well I have usually put neoprene vests on my dogs when duck hunting(labs) and this year I am going to take my lab out quail hunting. I live in AZ and I am consearned about all the brus hand prickly stuff tearing up her belly. I was going to use the neoprene vest but, I think it would be to hot for her in september. Is there any type of vest that you all know of that is just for protection and not for cold weather. And do any of you even think they are neciessary in the first place. thanks

P.S. Do any of you use dog boots?

This is what I use. They also make one that just covers the dogs belly. I think a lab would be ok without one though. As far as boots, the ones I have used have always had are really a pain. They just wont stay on unless you duct tape the crap out of them. I do use some stuff called pad heal that tuffens the pad. Some old timers just use rubbing alcohol.
