I was walkin in the woods with my chocolate lab and she took off on a deer trail. Whats a good way to teach her not to do that???

They make breaking scents for this stuff as well as using a shock collar when it takes off on a deer track. Using a shock collar only when you know it's going after deer and not tracking a bird that happened to travel a short distant on a deer track. Here grouse and deer frequent the same areas around some of the swamps and I sure wouldn't want to give it a shock when it's doing what i want it to do.

I suggest contacting a professional dog trainer in your area.

As Phil said - I use an E-collar. Again to recap. You need to see the dog chase the deer or acknowledge the deer trail right after you saw the deer on that trail.

Then and only then with the use of the E-collar do you know you are stopping the dog from tracking deer.

Id go with the shock collar, when I have a dog wanting to chasedeer i turn the collar up higher than I normally use to correct them.

Sportdog has a collar with a 100 yard range that is about $100. I am sure other manufacturers have something similar

The scent doesn't cost a lot.. Here is a web site for you to check out if you wish to look further into it.. http://www.gundogsupply.com/breakingscents.html
