Default Dog Training

Just curious as to what the earliest age I want to start training my lab to hunt? I don't have him yet, but I should be picking him up around the 13th of December. It has been 14 years since I helped my dad train our last lab, but this one is all up to me.

Non-enforced "Puppy Training" begins within a few days of when you bring him home.
Enforced training won't start until 4 to 6 months.
There is a VERY COOL "puppy DVD" that just came out that takes you through the first 6 months.
It's called the "Smartwork Puppy Program", by Evan Graham. You definitely need this.

Do you have this video yourself? I saw that it is 160$, so I want to make sure that it is worth it.

I have all of his books and DVD's and have attended one of his Seminars.
You are looking at the entire set of DVD's (I think5 of them) for $131.50 + $5 shipping.

Just the puppy DVD by itself is only $29.95, and it's 1 hour 20 minutes long.
Take a look at this page --- about half way down the Puppy DVD is listed.

Training starts on day one. Just keep it short and fun. Always end on a positive note. Don't give up.

Best advise I ever got was; " Look at and teach you dog like you would a kid" You wouldn't smack a 2yr kid just for not understanding what 2+2 is? Goes the same when you start introducing a e-collar ***Don't even remotely start with an e-collar noe either!*** . They have to understand what you expect. Kind of like me walking up behind you and hitting you in the back of the head when you have no idea who I am or what you did. Enjoy your new pup.
