Bottled "Bird Scent" -- I might Have Changed My Mind
I have never been a believer in bottled "bird scent". I never thought that they smelled like real birds................................But I may have just changed my mind.
Tucker ( 3.5 months old ) started pointing live birds a couple weeks ago. I "won" three bottles of Remington Bird Scent last July at a Field Test, so I sprinkled some "Quail Scent" on one of his paint rollers -- just to see if he prefered one that was scented over one that wasn't. I put the scented roller in a cardboard box on the "step" in front of the fireplace............ Tucker came in the house, started "scenting", went straight to the cardboard box and went on point. I didn't know that Remington even sold such a thing. It's Remington brand, and on the back of the bottle, it says, "Made in USA -- MFD for CPP, Inc, Alliance OH 44601. "Remington trademark is used under license by CPP, Inc." Anyhow, I may have just changed my mind on the value of bottled scent (at least this one). . |
RE: Bottled "Bird Scent" -- I might Have Changed My Mind
We only use real birds for Pointing Training. We only use the paint rollers for Puppy Marks --- I just found it interesting that he thought it smelled real enough to go on point.

There is no such thing as pointing training doc. Either the dog points or it doesn't. Oh wait, I forgot, it's a lab!!!!!!

I have often wondered how people who can't smell birds can make scent that smells like birds.
