I have DD's They are great Bloodtracking dogs, but if you are not going to do anything else with them, such as other hunting. I would recomend a Wirehaired Dachsund they are very good blood tracking dogs.

almost any dog can be taught to trail. My buddy had the best I ever saw---and it was a poodle! Some dogs are natural trackers---bloodhounds, etc.

Actually from Texas to NY Wire Haired Dachshunds are the popular breed.

I hear Catahoula Curs make good blood trailing dogs. They're kind of large if your state requires the dog be on a leash. Here's a link to a guy about 80 miles from me. He will sell you a pup then when the pup is 4-6 months old bring it back to him to train almost anything you want. I was told the training is 6 weeks and he will do it all himself or you can go there yourself once a week for 6 weeks and he will basically train you how to train the dog. http://www.abneycatahoulas.com/
