what e-collar?
I am new to the entire dog training scene and am starting to work with my young gsp female. I am wanting to purchase a e-collar and a beeper collar. Problem being, I am a college student so funds are limited. I didn't know if you guys had any suggestion on a route to take! Thanks again guys!

RE: what e-collar?
Sport dog is good for the price.
Dogtra is more expensive but great.
Tritronics is the best prolly, and most expensive.
DT is good.
I would go with Sportdog on a budget.
Keep in mind that the beeper is going to drive up the price of a $200 collar to 4 or 500 bucks. Just because...
Here's a pretty basic collar, DT quality at 300 bucks.. Not too bad.

The Garmin Astro is well worth looking into. This one is a portable handheld GPS receiver that links to another GPS receiver on your dog. It can be used solo as a personal navigation system or with the dog collar and tracks up to 10 dogs at a time. At all times you have a compass arrow pointing to the dog and a window that tells you exactly how far away the dog is. Anyone familiar with a GPS can operate this one and if you're not familiar, it's pretty easy to learn. My dad bought one for his squirrel dog and I am thoroughly impressed. Ok enough sounding like a commercial. Just check it out. Cabela's sells it for about $600 with one collar and each additonal collar is $200. https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=&pID=8576

Ok MossyOak, if you haven't bought an e-collar yet. I would recommend you go online and check out www.collarclinic.com . They have most if not all the ones that was recommend above new and recondition. Hope that helps you out.
