Dew Claw removal...
 

Does anyone out there have any experience in Dew claw removal on new born pups ?

Boomer knocked up my Molly girl and I want to remove their Dew claws when they're born.

Sally and I we're diligent about keeping this from happening, but it happened on Christmas while we we're gone.

Thats too funny.

I hate it when those sorts of things happen all unplaned like, but its funny when it happens to someone else.

Check with your vet, if they dont do it, they should know someone who does.

Isn't it funny how people just love to laugh at other peoples misfortunes, but when it happens to them, it's not all that humorous.:D

I only had one of these "accidents" happen once. Usually dont keep that many females around. I usually stud for others, because I hate doing all the puppy stuff. I half way thought to spay all my females to eliminate an "accident".

My knocked up female is a dog that a friend of mine found on the side of a backroad here in Mi. about 4 months ago.
She was almost dead from starvation. Some (%^$$%^&& just dropped her there to die.
My buddy took her home and got her strengh up a little and was going to take her to the pound. After I saw her I just couldn't let that happen.
I wasn't really wanting another dog, but schidt happens.... and now the schidt is really happening. My boy Boomer knocked her up.

I sure wish I could find the (*&&^%^&**) that dumped her off. I'd like to get the papers on her and give him a lil' somethin' somethin', if ya' know what I mean.[:@]
She's a MACHINE. A bit hyper like most Chocolates, but has tremendous drive, a great nose,,,,, and a belly full of pupparoos.

Personally, I'd have my Vet remove the dew claws. The Vet has the right equipment and expertise.
It usually only costs $3 or $4 per pup to have it done.

This is sort of what I was implying above... When I had a litter, I could have done it myself, but I really didnt want to butcher it up. The vet did all their shots and CERF's, OFA's, etc and dew claws. It is easier that way.

I guess you probably dont know what Boomer throws....? Molly? (Choclates, blacks, yellows, all of the above?)

Boomer has Chocolate in his background. As for Molly,,, your guess is as good as mine.

I got step by step instructions for the removal of the dew claws from a breeder that's been doin' it for 30 years.
Being a Taxidermist, I don't forsee any problems.

I had done 2 litters and all was fine, you have to make sure you get them close enough so they will not stick out later and be a bother to them. Also if you can not get them by the time they reach 3 days old take them to a vet..
