Kennel Barking
 

Does anyone have suggestions about a dog barking in the kennel? He is new so I’m hoping he will get over it soon.

my breeder has about 10 dogs in kennels in his yard..
they almost all bark, its terrible.

i dont know how the neighbors put up with it..

i pulled into his driveway, and about 6 of the 10 opened up on me..

its no wonder his wife left him.

How old is the dog?

If he's a pup, I would let him go for a while and see how it goes. Never let him out of the kennel when he's barking.

If he's older, I'd put a bark limiter on him.

IMO: you put a bark limiter on the dog ASAP. You are only re-enforcing bad behavior to let it go on. Good kennel manners is apart of the enjoyment of a hunting dog. Quiet, and will obey "kennel-up" command first time, every time. I have had three bird dogs so far.....and I finally learned that kennel training is as important as the field work.

I'll throw another vote for bark collar. They work wonders. Start on a light setting, I've got the Tritronics bark limiter and start a dog on 2, most learn on 3, but have had some take it all the way to 5 before they'll stop barking!

I broke my beagle using a garden hose.Zip tied it to the side of the fence on his kennel and clamped it open.Every time he opened up id just turn the hose on.After about 4 good soaks he got the hint.

I just got him and he is 12 months old. He barked for aabout an hour after I put him in the kennel each morning.Over the last week it has been less and less though. This morning he didn't bark at all. I think he is getting the idea.

water sprinkler works great.

i can sneak out of the house and turn on the water faucet.

2 of 3 days and spot is a new dog.
