RE: Blood trailing dogs

Gator, my Lab mix trained not to chase deer but does great on turkeys. A couple years back I arrowed a buck 8:30am and 9:00am It started raining. Picked up my arrow and headed to the house.Lunch date with Mom., back home at 2:30pm Let Gator smell bloodyarrow and walked to spot where I picked up arrow and just watched him move slowly though wet goldenrod and thorn apple patch. When he put his nose down I checked the spot and blood. He,s 5 years old and very tuned to me and does remember deer chasing will get him in deep do-do with me. I don't say a thing and just follow him slowly and 100 yards though the bursh here's my buck, he just turns and looks at me. I did not say, that a boy, good dog, although I was thinking it. Just gutted out the deer as he watched. That's 7 hours on a rainy day. Great tracking dog but does not chase deer. My dog GATOR is #1..............
