I wish I had a Beagle that would run rabbits. Lots of rabbits here but no one that I know ever uses a dog to hunt them. Around here all beagles are relegated to pet status. I have looked at pups and ask if the parents hunt and all I get is a goofy look back. If I ever get the chance I will have a hunting beagle.

I used to hunt rabbits & snowshoe hare with Beagles but haven't had any hounds for several years now. But it never gets out of your system.
I started rabbit hunting in the early 60's with my dad, who along with my grandfather raised and hunted Basset Hounds from the mid-40's throught the mid-70's. I got my first Beagle in 1970 and ran them forabout33years.
I fact, I am going to get back into rabbit hounds. I'll be picking up a 6 week old Basset pup in two weeks. I've been doing my homework for a couple years now and finally settled on a breeding out of a long line of top-notch rabbit dogs.
