Pointing Lab takes 1st Place Against Pointers
 

A Pointing Lab BPKs Sonik Red Blast ("Nicki") took 1st Place yesterday in the Top Gun Pointing Hunter division of the NBDCA (National Bird Dog Challenge) at Davis city IA. Another PL (Sage) got knocked out of 2nd Place due to a missed shot. Another PL (Annie) took 5th Place.
This is a "Run & Gun" event against Pointing Breed dogs.
Pretty cool that they let PLs run in a pointing event.

That is awsome. Just another reason that makes labs the best breed out there. IMO.

Had my male over to my buddies today to shoot somepheasants that he is clearing out of the pens for the breeding season now (he raises birds for people to pay and come out to shoot). He did really well today. Mostly use him on waterfowl but dosomeupland. I have hunted him on wild birds around here in WIbut its hard for him to get into a grove and learn what he is doing with them because they are few and far between. Anyways he is either full PL or half PL, not sure. I know his father is out of a full pointing lab kennel but I'm not sure about his mother. Well today had him on a couple birds and the first he got on he got real slow and close but never locked up because the bird flushed before he got real close to it. Then the second bird held perfect. He got on it and found where it was and locked up perfect leg raised point right on the rooster. Held it for about 4 secondsand never moved a muscle and then the bird jumped before I could tell him to flush it.This was his first actual locked point on a bird. He has always gotten close where he gets real slow around a bird but the birds have always been wild ones and never seem to hold real well so he has never gotten to lock up a good point. Can't wait to get himon a few more birds here in the off season. Anyways I wasrealy happy with how he did for not bein in the field on any birds for about 2 months now. WCL

This is awesome! I just went up to see my pup at the trainer andam fired up about her test in April. Good win for BPK and P/L's.

I think i will Train a Setter for a Waterfowl Test

Great pic -------------- but ---------- how come the dog's tail ain't wet? Did it walk on the water?
Just joking. I love to see dogs that can do both sides of the fence.

I spoke to the folks at Bear Point and they told me that P/L's took 1 through 4. Anyone know if that is true?

Her tail is wet but, according to her owner she does walk on water
