Price for training.

Been looking to get a retreiver for Duck, Goose, Dove, Grouse hunting and was looking into trainers because although I have some time I like pros, they are pros for a reason. So whatare theprice's you've paid in the past for training and what kind of training, full time boarded, part time?

RE: Price for training.

Ballpark between $650-$1,000 per month. Hunt test/gun dogtraining generally will be on the lower end and field trial will be on the upper end. If you put your dog with a trainer best advice is too asked around about the trainer and if possible train with them a few times. Just like other professions most are good, some are very good, and some need to find another line of work. Go to a hunt test/trial this year and see who's dogs run well, that usually is very telling.

I live in N. Illinois. Locally I was seeing prices from 600-1,000 a month. I looked farther south and found a fantastic trainer outside of StLoius for 350 a month + 30 for food. This was quite a find. In fact this is or was the same kennel and trainer that Augustana Bush (the owner of Budweiser) sends his dogs to. If you look there are good kennels out there for a decent price. I had to do a lot of traverling i went to visit and work with trhe dog twice a month. Mostly because I missed her.

No Professional will work for this kind of wage. Most folks won't even show up to work for this.
Training has to been performed by someone who gets satisfaction and really enjoys what they are doing.
