Beagles are great for pushing/trailing deer. They mover slower than the blueticks/walkers etc so the deer arn't coming past you at 100mph!
I've had a couple great blood trailers out of beagles as well.

Deerhounds the Ultimate.
I hunted with a man that used four Deerhounds. I have seen them turn whitetail back towards us right off the bat. No jumping in the truck to ride down the road and no 2 mile chases.

Jumping in the truck? To each his own but I've never hunted like that before. We line men up at a choke point and one or two guys will work the dogs towards us. Booter is beagle/black lab, Dewey is lab/red bone/beagle, we call him Max Power, he once retrieved a deer from a pond!
