What do you think?

This is Sadie, my 12 year old lab. When we got her we were told she was a pure-bred yellow lab. Last week the vet said he thought she has some golden retriever in her. A little wavy hair on her back and her haunches makes me think he may right. What do you all think?

RE: What do you think?

just for the fun of it i did a search on pet finder of lab x golden retriever's. I adopted a lab x gr about 12 years ago and she was very light yellow colored but everything else looked like a golden. she had a sister who had the body and coat of a golden but she was solid black. for what it's worth the mother was a yellow lab out of two black parents and she was the only yellow in a litter of nine. The dog i have right now is a yellow lab x gr. and he has the body and coat length of a lab including the coarse undercoat but he is red in color, the golden reddish color of a golden retriever. on pet finder i got the following results: all these dogs were listed as Yellow Lab X Golden Retriever, of 30 dogs--- 7 looked like yellow labs--- 11 looked like red labs---9 looked like yellow golden retrievers--- 1 looked like a golden retriever with the normal reddish colored coat--- 1 looked like a yellow lab with some white markings on the muzzle and chest--- and 1 looked like a red colored lab with white markings on the chest and muzzle. color in yellow can vary greatly from almost white to so dark it is almost red, so color might not mean squat when trying to tell if a lab is pure. goldens have a reddish color so i would think that you could eliminate some goldens as not being pure based on color. the one thing that i did notice both in the pictures where you can see the tails and in a few dogs i have seen that i know for sure were lab x gr, is that none of them had the otter tail of the lab and they all seem to have feathering on their tails. Just my opinion but I'd say by looking at her tail you probably have a pure bred lab there.

It does look like it hassome features...but at the same time there's also labs out there that are called Red Fox Labs, could have some of that.

I have a dog that according to our best guessis a Lab/Golden. I know the mother was a Black Lab, who knows who the father(s) was. The rest of the litter were completely different, even bigger andshorthaired with white/black speckling against the black coat, almost like a Dane mix.
