RE: dog for pheasant ?

I use english pointers to hunt pheasants and quail. right now I'm training a 7 month old pup, she scent pointed her 1st bird at 9 weeks. she loves birds and she also loves to retrieve. my dogs stay outside all year round and I live in Il. make sure that you are buying from a honest breeder no matter what dog you choose, have them to show you the parnets and show them to you working birds. I'm just a foot hunter and these dogs can do the job for ya. Will you be training your own dog?

God Bless

I have 2 Labs. Great retrievers. If you are looking for au upland dog primarily, it is hard to beat the Springer Spaniel. I have included an ESS website along with a breeder's website. I know this family and they are good with matching pup with owner. Good luck in your quest.

Toons, I think for a all around hunting dog the lab is hard to beat.
(if you're looking for a flushing dog)
