RE: Beagle's

I have a old beagle that I use to train pups in a 5 acre pen. Seems to be the best method that I know of.

RE: Beagle's

I run my beagles with the older dogs and after makeing a kill to them I will take the young dogs out without the older dogs, this has worked for me very well in the past . I noticed that all my male pups took lomger to get on with the rabbits. All my females started at 5 mos. There pulling hair now at 6and 1/2 mos.

RE: Beagle's

Take your pup out by himself at first. Stomp brush and try to jump a rabbit in fromt of him. Sooner or later, he'll spot that rabbit when it jumps up, and his instincts will take over. Now this isn't the fastest method, but it's very good for 2 reasons. #1 The pup learns to be a little independent. He won't always be waiting around for another dog to do the work of jumpimg a rabbit for him.

#2 The pup will be spending time with you! He'll learn that HE's hunting with YOU, not vice versa! This is very important, because you can have a hound that can run the hair off a rabbit, but if he's doing it 2 miles away from you, it won't do you much good.

Hunting with already trained dogs, is a good second bet. Just remember to hunt him with good dogs. As one of the guys mentioned above, he'll pick up bad habits from dogs that have bad habits.

Hope this helps!
