Sure alot of people run them, I have a friend in Illinois that has a field bred that is just a monster, very nice dog. He is a member of this group. Marty Davis, I belive the web site is www.fieldbredcockers.com if that doesnt work, I will do some research and find the link. You will be suprized at the amount of dog. You and momma can both be happy. I have another friend that has some russian spaniel pups, very versitle. good looking dogs. Thanks Jonesy

I have seen both Cockers, and Field Spaniels in action, and I was impressed. Personally I perfer the Field Spaniel, but if your wife likes Cockers go for it. If she doesn't really know much about any of the Spaniel breeds however, I would say take a look at the Field Spaniels, and see if you could slip one by. In any case, all puppies are cute so,....

My understanding of Cockers is that if you want one that will hunt then you will need to buy an English Cocker, not the American Cocker. Also, and I'm sure you are well aware of this but it needs repeating, buy it from a breeder who breeds specifically for the field, not the bench.

Anyway, have fun, and let us know what you decide.

Thanks for the mention Jonesy - here's my little Barney at 16 months after just getting his AKC Junior Hunter title. He's probably 21 months old now.

The web site Jonesy meant was http://www.fieldcockers.comIn 2005, a fbECS from America got fourth in the Canadian National Chapionship. They havefield trials all over the place for Cockers and they are EXCITING to watch! (I think even more so than the Springer field trials)

Smaller than the fbESS, the fbECS is just dynomite in the upland fields. Lots of heart and a never quit attitude.

That is one handsome dog. He must be fun to watch in the field.
