RE: will patience pay off
Mite, you're letting me down, you sound like an ole horsebacker, answer to the question.......ummmmm.......no. Send it here, or I'll possibly meet you, give me at least a month, possibly two, I'll get it right for ya. Honestly, thanks Jonesy

RE: will patience pay off
Just throwing out a 'what if' kinda idea. Was wondering if anyone is brave enough to try it. I just may for the laugh. I can see my dog now, yowling and yanking trying to get at the bird. Actually, it sounds kinda cruel but my dog would have fun with it. She goes absolutely nuts when it comes to birds. When we go to the dog park (family of quail resides there),the moment I release her, she's crouching and stalking looking for those quail. Everyone gets a kick seeing that.
Anyone used a woah post and a bird together? |
RE: will patience pay off
I had a Brit that acted exactly the same way and I never could break him entirely. What did seem to help was LOTS of bird time without shooting, just letting him get excited working birds and I would take him to my local skeet range alot. I started by parking 1/2 mile away and letting him walk around in the woods until he paid no attention to the guns going off. I'd move about 100 yards closer everytime I'd see he wasn't paying any attention to the shots. Took days and days and days before we were near the skeet fields, but it worked pretty good.

RE: will patience pay off
Mite, this where th ewhoa training kicks in is with the bird, what I had mentioned earlier, with me & you, was the dogs fall apart in the field, because it is a totally different circumstance, at the house, and in the field, one is restrained, by the post and you out front, where the other is you, and nobody out front, this is where you get the dog to step, or start to step, bump the bird outta there, dog thinks it did it. You control, the chase, you don't have to say nothing. Thanks Jonesy
