If you had a choice when buying a lab puppy what color would you get: yellow, black or chocolate?

No offense, but when I hear someone yelling at a dog in the marsh and pull around the bend of the creek, it's always a yellow lab that they are yelling at. No just kidding, the owner has everything to do with the dog. I have two chocolates. The big one is a male named "Hunter" Marsh Dawgs Savage Hunter and the little one is "Kaluha" Marsh Dawgs Kaluha Mud Slide like the drink.

They all have pros and cons:

BLACK : Easy to see in the uplands, and when a Black dog is swimming in your decoys, their heads look like a swimming duck. But, they are definitely hotter in the Summer, warmer in the Winter.

CHOCO : Their color matches the mud color (or rock color) in many areas. Fairly easy to see in most upland situations.
They feel the "heat of Summer" almost as much as Black dogs, but are warmer in the Winter.

YELLAR : Natural camo in most "dead vegetation" areas when waterfowl hunting. Cooler in the Summer, cooler in the Winter. Harder to see in the uplands.

Personally, I have always had Yellars.

Yellow all the way. Proud owner of a 5 yeard old male named Jude. My other hunting dog is my 2 year old Weimaraner named Blue. Together, their return is awesome.

Lurch, weird question but what kinda grass is that? Sorry I'm born raised and never left Texas so all I know is the grrass grass we have not that stuff, looks soft though..

Sorry, couldn't resist. Actually I don't know what it is. It was here when I moved in, though I've thrown a bunch of money away on overseeding with the heavy shade blends - might by ryegrass or kentucky bluegrass or.... Iremember them from the label but I trulyhave no idea. I'm a CO native so I can tell the difference between a pine treeand aspen tree but that's as far as my botany skills go.

Gotta say Black! although Im a sucker for a fox red. Not to fond of the light yellas or white. If I had to pick a chocolate it would nice and dark.

Black. color doesnt mean a thing, its just what you like. my lab sambuca (fire of the night) is black and I dont think he cares,he just a huntin fool.

I have a yellow one, mainly because he was given to me. Personally I believe they are all beautiful dogs and would be proud to own either color.

It's not the color that matters, but what's between the ears. Though everyonehas their favorites
I prefer blacks but I do own a fox red yellow male who as been trained by me and together we acheived his HRCH UH and 500 points. the only problem with him is seeing him through the weeds since he pretty much blends in great for waterfowl ,but a pain in upland. still wouldn't leave him behind

I like Yellow, my boy is actually Redish with yellow eyes. I have to agree I think yellows are a little hard headed
