1st blood trail set out and she did it!
Today I set up a 20 yard blood trail made from chicken. Along the trail I have put little pieces of cooked chicken liver and a little bit bigger piece at the end.
My pup is now 14 weeks, she's a wirehaired dachshund. I was amazed how fast she picked up the trail at first but after 5 yards she got disatracted and started to sniff and wander arround. I called her back on the trail and she picked it up again. At the end she not only found the last part of liver but also the container that i left there on a big stump. I guess that smell was to nice for her. Next time i will put her on pigeon or pheasant. What will be a good interval for training? One week or so? ![]() |

that is great.she'll get better as time goes by, she's just a baby.....
had Anddee, my bloodhound tracking the other day, she did real good.....i have to defrost some more deer/hog blood today for her, i'll do it once a week at the very least just to make sure she's up on things, lol....... |

Good looking pup! I wouldn't run a trail anymore than once a week maybe longer. A lot depends on her you don't want her to get bored so pay attention to her demeanor and if she starts to lose interest back off and give her more time between practice tracks. Keeping it fun and interesting to her is the key.

Once a week is plenty, and leave something @ the end of the track; dead duck of pheasant. I use a piece of deer hide. Have fun and dont push it. Also, make them longer and older each time. GL

Hey Stretch, are those the deer you found at the side of the road?
