Dog food?
Is any one familiar with the dog food brand BLUE BUFFALO? It was recomanded to me by my trainer, who likes it for being more natural and organic. She says it has a higher quality standard than alot of the big brands. I was using Eukanuba, but I thought I would give it a try. My dog is not that big of an eater when it comes to dog food so I can't tell how she likes it, but I like the ingriediants in it. What do you all think. Also have any of you heard of adding raw canned pumpkin which was suggested when the dog is not working much in the off season?

RE: Dog food?
Never heard of the brand. But your question is liking asking "Is Heinz or Del Monte better?"
All dog food manufacturers make different blends, some suitable for your dog and some not. A lot of variables involved in selecting a dog food and reputation of the manufacturer is one. Certainly these folks are not on parity with the leading brands, although that may not mean anything. I checked their website and their pitch is they use human grade ingredients, nothing disgusting like chicken beaks. ;) But I checked both of their adult foods (they don't sell a premium or high-performance) for ingredients and neither provide enough protein or fat for a hard-working sporting dog. http://www.bluebuff.com/products/dogs.shtml It's more important to find a food with a formula that matches your dog's age and activity level than the brand, IMHO. There are several good brands for sporting dogs. |
