water in the field

i was wondering what are some of the tricks to give your dog water out in the field. my friend has a bottle and just pours it out and his dog trys to drink it as its pouring out to the ground. she gets some of it but a lot is wasted and i dont think she gets enough.
thanks

There is something I've seen on the TV show Hunting With Hank where he carries a water pouch with a spout. But I would get (an have) a collapse water bowl. They are made of nylon and you can buy them at Petco or most pet stores.

I use a squirt bottle and squirt it right into the dogs mouth. I used to carry a small bowl and found you still waste water because you let the dog drink unitl it is satisfied , which leaves water in the bottom of the bowl. Although I used the water by pour it on the dogs back to help cool him off.

Same here. Squirt bottles work real well.
I also have a garden sprayer in the rig. If it's hot, I'll spray him down before we go out for a hunt, and spray him down again when we get back. He also likes to drink from the sprayer nozzle. Goofy dog.

In Iowa there is plenty of ponds, creeks and rivers for the dog to stop and get a drink I don't worry about bringing waterwith.

A couple weeks ago i saw a lady watering her dog from a water bottle that had a small dish hinged to it. It folded up into one unit which sat on a pouch on her hip. I believe you might find them in any pet store. It contained just over a litre of water.

I've used those water bottle with bowl attatched things. We used it in the car whil traveling with the dog. It worked pretty good. I think we got it at Walmart for a couple bucks.

You can buy a bottle with a small bowl attached to it that folds up from Upco pet supplies.
