Way to Go..!!!!...You'll need to post some pic's...Tonight..if ya put him in his crate...and set it up near your bed..whenever he starts whinning....don't do anything except bang one of your palm's flat on top of the crate....and just yell "QUIET"....he'll stop...I believe when I brought my pup home...it only took a couple of slap's on the crate...yelling "Quiet" a nite....for maybe 2-3 day's....then all was well. Have fun with the pup....trust me...they grow up way to quick....almost wish they'd stay that way alittle longer.

thanks guys... well he has been getting up every 2 hours.. is that normal.. i let him out and he goes "potty" everytime.. should i be letting him out everytime? sorry if this all sounds stupid but its all new to me as it is w/ him.. so far i think he likes his crate, he gets a little upset when i lock the gate but he settles down in a few min. and falls asleep..
another question is when i picked him up from the breeder and brought him home he really didnt like my truck. he through up on the way home. and when i put him in it a few hours after being home he was really scared, should i just keep putting him in and he will get used to it??thanks everyone

Congratulations on your new english pointer pup. Rick and Ronnie Smith has a newDVD out on conditioning your puppyfor training later. It has an excellent section on crate conditioning: www.ricksmithkennels.com
Make the crate a place of safety for the puppy. Use a comfortable bedding. When putting the puppy in the crate, say, "crate"orsome word then when travelling, you canuse the same command.
If you snore at night, you won't need to tap the crate. It iswhining because of separation anxiety and if the puppy knows you're there it should settle down after a few minutes.
Concerning your question, I've heard some people water the pup less at night but I never tried it. Just displine yourself to letting the puppy out. I would suggest you get that DVD. NAVDIA trainning book is okay but an english pointer is not really a verstile dog.

thanks everyone... okay we are bonding really well, things are going pretty good.. he sleeps a lot right now.. okay another question..lol i knew i would have a ton of questions.. but when he gets outside he just loves to run run run and run.. and for 7 weeks old he is pretty quick.. so i went to get him a collar today and i got the smallest puppy collar there is .. and its way too big for him.. now i can catch him but im afraid in a week or two it might get tough, is there anything i can rig up to use as a collar or should i just wait till he gets bigger and older??? thanks again sorry so many stupid questions..
*update* i got him a cat collar.. he dont like it but what dog does at first
