Best thing to do for your dog on a hot day?

I know one thing is for sure I hate seeing my beagle dogs sitting out in the heat. It can't be good for them. I have a lot of good rabbit hunting around my house so I usually let them out to run around or sit in the shade and make sure theyhave plenty of cold water. What do you think the best thing would be to do?
Comments appreciated

If you're running them, don't run them too much and do it in the morning or evenings when it's a little cooler.

When it's really hot, I either just don't run my dogs at all or let them do some easy running for about 5 minutes just so they can blow some steam off.

When it's this hot I just put them out in the backyard which has plenty of shade. Make sure they have fresh, cold water. Then just leave them be.
