Arkansas - New hunting rules for 2002 ?
Biggest change I see is this ....
27 1-800-364-GAME HUNTING ON PRIVATE PROPERTY To hunt within 150 yards of a resi- dence, hunters using firearms must have written permission from the owner or occupant. See example below. For archery hunting , hunt- ers must have written permis- sion to hunt within 50 yards of a residence. See example below. A hunting or fishing license is not a license to trespass. It is not only good sportsmanship, it is a legal requirement to find out who owns the land or water and get permission from the landowner or leaseholder before hunt- ing, fishing or trapping on private prop- erty. New requirement starting in 2002: If the property is not posted, verbal per- mission is required. If posted, written per- mission is required. See example below. PERMISSION TO HUNT CARD The written permission must include the name of the person permitted on the property, the beginning and ending dates of the permission period and the signa- ture and telephone number of the land- owner or lessee. Written permission is not required if the person hunting is the spouse, mother, father, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, son- in-law, daughter-in-law, niece, nephew, grandchild, grandparent and has actual per- mission of the landowner or lessee. RE: Arkansas - New hunting rules for 2002 ?
So do I read this correctly in that you must have written permission to hunt on private posted land AND you must have written permission to hunt within 150/50 yards of a residence? Or Is it written for hunting close to the residence only if the private land is NOT posted?
WOW you need a lawer to understand the law! And the last section is equally confusing as to if you need written permission or not if you have written permisssion Greg "Getting close to the game is the joy of Bowhunting for me, the harvest is a bonus." ![]() Live 15 ft Python after eating a small Antelope! |

RE: Arkansas - New hunting rules for 2002 ?
Stealthy i called the ag&f on this one. the enforcement division said that it was really for landowners that had a problem with people trespassing . thats not what i read into it. i think we have some lawmakers that have nothing to do!
i asked the lady at the ag&f if i needed to write a permission slip for my 16 members. she said it would be a good idea. yeah !!!! Another on like the one they had a few years ago about a gun had to be cased while transporting. well that one fizzeled . i guess i better start writting my boys little permission slips. i wouldnt want them to get detention!! If the land is posted- you have to have written permission
If the land is not posted- you have to have verbal permission also- the three point rule is in effect in the NWR's this year wished they'd done that years ago! |

One more rule no one mentioned. you must pull a tooth for the AG&F , tell if it is still producing milk and i think take some measurements from the antlers. all done at the check station. in the book it says the internet will explain what to do if checking online.
So now you must take your tooth pullers. the check stations i have talked to said the hunters are going to do it. they don't have time to pull a deers tooth and than go make your biscuit. Hope they wash there hands! SOUTH ARKANSAS REBEL |
