KY Turkey hunters

Thinking about hunting Kentucky for a couple days before the Indiana season comes in, was curious if I might be able to pick the brains of some of the residents on here about the KY public hunting areas, and if they are worth the hunt. Especially land on the north central part of KY. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

http://www.kyafield.com/kfwis/viewable/ViewableWMA.asp will provide you with the WMA maps for wherever you might want to go. Yellowbank has a good turkey population and is right on the Ohio River near Brandenburg. I would suggest Yellowbank, FT Knox, or Peabody. If I had to choose just one, it would be Peabody.

Alot of hunters as well. Everybody get directed to Peabody to the point that it's a madhouse there. There r places with good number of birds that ain't buried knee deep in hunters as Peabody has become. Try PennyrileState Park. Higginson-henry WMA is also loaded with birds, but is archery only. Eastern Ky Mountains have bulging bird numbers and lower hunter density due to rugged terrain.

Indyhunter, I'm about 2hrs drive south of Florence in Richmond(Madison county)and there's plenty of public hunting land here and alot of birds, but like everywhere else, most of its overrun with hunters. A couple years ago, we started opening our season on the 15th of April and no longer on a Saturday. Obviously, the 15th is not always on the weekend and thats eased up the pressure of hunters on opening day because alot of them are working, if the 15th falls during the week, and they wait for the weekend. So, if you're planning on coming down for the opener on Friday this year, pressure won't be as bad. Good luck.
